Handmade by 丹辉壁画非物质文化遗产 · Made in China
This handcrafted artwork is built upon a rich, mottled earth-brown ground rendered with pigment-splashing techniques. Blazing red flame patterns in the upper right brim with vivid visual energy, creating a striking contrast of movement and stillness with the serene, imposing figure of Vaishravana. Bold, assured lines establish the vertical rhythm of the composition. The matte granular texture of mineral pigments, raised fine ornamentation and subtle gilded accents blend together to produce a tangible three-dimensional effect. The work embodies the rustic, substantial and enduring aesthetic qualities of classic mural art, while emanating the solemn grandeur of Eastern sacred art. Vaishravana, the guardian deity of the north, is revered as a sacred figure who bestows prosperity and augments blessings and good fortune.
